Following Christ’s Example

The Gospel message is better demonstrated than preached. Jesus tells the story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10. The Samaritan sees a man beaten and robbed and has pity on him. He takes him to the inn where he can be cared for and pays for all of his recovery expenses.
If we can take care of obvious physical needs in people’s lives, doors open for us to meet their spiritual needs as well.
Throughout the years on our trips overseas, we have encountered many people suffering from diseases, deformities, or other medical ailments, unable to afford any kind of treatment. When we come into contact with people in these situations, we feel it is an amazing blessing to them if we can do something to help. The Vision Beyond Borders Medical Fund helps us do this. Money from this fund is kept in reserve until a need is encountered, at which point the money can be withdrawn after prayerful consideration and be used to help the person(s) in need.
We Have Been Blessed to Help a Few
While in Burma we encountered a young girl crippled with clubbed feet. We were able to raise support for her to have surgery and she is learning to walk normally.
In Bhutan, a 9 year old girl we met had a damaged eye which would often fall out of its socket, preventing her from reading. Money was raised for her to have an operation and receive treatment. The damaged eye was replaced with a glass one and she was fitted with glasses, enabling her to attend a private school to catch up in her studies. She and her mother have repented of their sins and accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
Moti, a 15 year old boy, had a faulty heart valve. We were able to help provide heart surgery for him and as a result his whole family has come to faith in Christ.
In Vietnam we saw a man who had been severely burned by acid. We said we wanted to help, and a young Vietnamese lady was moved to tears saying, “Nobody cares about that man.” We prayed with him and his thankfulness and hope shined on his face. When we returned, his face lit up. We often feel more blessed than the patients.
The Gospel Preached Without a Word
We see this as a unique opportunity for people to witness firsthand the love and mercy of Jesus Christ through the gift, as well as receive relief from their infirmities. With your help, we hope to be a part of many more success stories. We see ourselves as the arm of the church reaching out to the lost and dying for the glory of God.
