Vision for Children seeks to match poverty-stricken and orphaned children with sponsors in order to meet each child's physical, medical, educational, and spiritual needs.

Vision for Children began in the fall of 2002 with the sponsorship of four children in Kathmandu, Nepal. Over the years the program has grown tremendously. We are now working to find sponsors for children in 6 main areas of Nepal and throughout Vietnam, India and Burma.

Sponsor a Child

Many of the children we serve have been found on the streets after being abandoned.

Others are ethnic minorities or were born to mentally or physically disabled parents who simply have no way to care for them. Left to themselves they may fall prey to a host of social evils including child prostitution and other forms of slavery and abuse. Other children in our program are being raised by Christian parents, but due to sickness, death, and often severe persecution because of their faith, they live in extreme poverty with no hope of ever obtaining an education.

These families could never afford the tuition costs that even public schools require in their countries. In Nepal, the cost for public school education can be over a third of some families' income. This is reflected in the country having a 70 to 80% illiteracy rate in some areas. As we minister the love of Christ to these precious ones, may His grace abound to them in each body, mind and soul.

Every child in the Vision for Children program is matched with a sponsor. These have included individuals, but we also have groups of people such as family members, friends, church Sunday school classes, and youth groups who are sharing the responsibility of sponsorship together. The sponsorship is a one-year commitment that can be renewed until the child is of age. A monthly amount is designated for each child based on the child's location and needs. This can be submitted on a monthly basis, every six months, or in full for one year. All funds go for the direct use of the sponsored child, his school and/or his orphanage.

The Lordship of Jesus Christ is taught to these children at a young age. Many will come to know Christ through your giving and prayers.

There are two different categories of monthly sponsorship available:

• $20 Sponsorship provides education and a daily hot meal for one child in Southeast Asia
• $35 Sponsorship provides food, clothing, living expenses, and education for one orphan in Southeast Asia

Sponsors are encouraged to write to their children several times a year. The letters are hand-delivered by Vision Beyond Borders mission teams. Translations are done by our in-country contacts and are then given to the children. All children love to receive letters, especially from a foreign country, but imagine the delight for a child who has been orphaned or abandoned when he discovers that someone on the other side of the world cares for him and is praying for him! Truly this is a picture of arms that are open to the poor and hands that extend to the needy.
